OES 2017 Changes In 2017, changes to OES aggregations were made. Some detailed occupations and industries were combined to produce estimates more reliably. Overview of 2017 changes: 1) Ten new aggregations replacing 12 detailed occupations 2) Select 4- and 5-digit NAICS industries previously published by OES will no longer be published separately 3) Of those 4-digit NAICS industries taht are no longer being published separately, they will be replaced with OES-specific 4-digit industry aggregations 4) SOC detailed occupations will be aggregated to the SOC braod occupation level 5) Remaining aggregations will be combinations to existing SOC broad occupations. These aggregations will use OES-specific codes and titles An article in the Winter 2018 newsletter describes the changes in depth, available here: http://widcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Winter-2018..pdf Files created to support this change: indcodes2017add.csv These are the OES-specific industry aggregations in the format of the indcodes table. indxindOES2017add.csv This crosswalks the existing NAICS industries to the new aggregations. It only includes the industries within new aggregations and both industry types are the same. This should only be needed in the case of comparisons through time, something that's not recommended because of of the three-year overlapping panels OES uses.
